The Musashi Hand Honed series swords are full-tang and can be
fully dissasembled. The sword is made with high temper carbon
steel. The blade was created by combining two pieces of steel with
different hardiness into one solid piece (iron wrap process) and
differentially tempering it until desired hardiness has been achieved.

“Dragon” . Made exclusively for us, we’ve used readily available, popular, off the shelf tsuba and
koshirae (sword fittings) in order to maximize affordability, but we haven’t sacrificed on quality!
Blades in the Sukotto series are to our specs. We utilize our experience in the Japanese sword arts to
bring you the highest quality introductory swords that you will find anywhere for the price.
The Dragon sword is constructed with 1045 high carbon steel that is hard forged and polished to a
razor sharp edge. It is heat treated, and given a full hardening treatment to maximize the strength of
the steel. The Dragon comes fully sharpened, and is tough enough for light cutting exercises.
Special features: The saya is equipped with a buffalo horn cap at the koiguchi for strength. Dragon
blades come with an upgraded sageo. It is much thicker, and wider than standard production sageo
that you will find on other swords, and the double width makes for a much crisper presentation of the
sword. In addition, the kurikata (knob for sageo) is placed at a functional and accurate 3.5 inches
from the koiguchi. Martial artists will appreciate this feature, as it facilitates correct drawing and
sheathing techniques.
The Dragon tsuka is specially refined to avoid the bulky and rounded look and feel of competitor
swords. The tsuka has a much flatter profile that gives it a much better feel and control. In the
hands, it feels much cleaner, and gives better feedback and control of hasuji (angle) control. It is
finished off with black cotton ito, over genuine same skin, on a solid wood core.
The Dragon sword has a full tang construction of the blade, and each blade can be fully
disassembled for good maintenance. This ensures that there is support metal underneath the handle
when wielding. Because of the full tang construction, we also are able to use dual mekugi for added
safety.
Don’t forget to also pick up a cleaning kit. Due to the high carbon content of the sword body,
consistent cleaning after use is critical to prevent rust spots on the blade.

1060 High Carbon Steel "Mokko gen 2"
Traditional 1060 steel katanas use high carbon steel with a .6% carbon content. This is the most ideal hardness steel to use in Japanese swords
because it offers the best compromise between rigidity and durability. The result is a steel that when heat treated and hardened will produce a very
hard cutting edge, and still have the ability to absorb shock.
The Mokko model sword features a 1060 monosteel construction that is completely through-hardened, giving it the strength and durability needed
for repeated cutting trials, without the risk of becoming too brittle that it chips and shatters, but yet not soft where it would bend on bad cuts.
Under normal dojo settings, it is perfect as an introductory dojo cutting sword, capable of taking a beating.
Each sword has a full tang construction that is secured with 2 mekugi for added safety. Tsuka is a black cotton wrap over genuine same skin on a
